Don’t Be A Monster is no longer scheduling assemblies for Fall 2016. If you’re interested in getting on the list for Fall 2017 please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org Our hour-long bullying prevention assemblies are held in the months of late September to early November, and we work with students in grades 4th through 10th.
What: Don’t Be A Monster is a 501(c)(3) bullying prevention nonprofit that was founded by haunted house owners, and runs an engaging anti-bullying assembly that is put on by actors in the haunted house. We have an iconic character named Frank that represents people who are “a little different.” Our presentations are creative, and a lot of fun for students during the Halloween season.
When: Late September through early November (October is national bullying prevention month!)
Who: Students in grades 4th – 10th
Cost: Our presentations are free, with the exception of presentations in San Antonio
How Long: Typically 1 hour per 300 students (but we can also present to an entire school at once)
Content: Our anti-bullying assembly focuses on the role of an Upstander. We work to teach students ways that they can be an Upstander in school. We discuss what constitutes bullying, what to do if it happens to you or you see it happening to someone else, diversity, acceptance, inclusion, and above all: kindness. We show a short video and have a 40-minute powerpoint presentation. We also encourage schools to have a meet-and-greet with our icon character Frank. Students love meeting him!
